In Lahore, development on the Akbar Chowk Flyover and Remodelling Project has reportedly resumed, signalling advancement towards converting Maulana Shaukat Ali Road into a partially signal-free corridor.
The project has resumed after an interruption of almost 2.5 months. The project cost increased from PKR 3.1 billion to PKR 5.035 billion. It is due to the altered design, which includes the construction of Akbar Chowk Flyover on both sides of U-turns.
After passing the intersection with Model Town Link Road. The U-turns will be constructed past Shoq Chowk and continue to Pindi Stop. By September, the project should be finished.
According to the news source, this endeavour will improve intersection traffic flow. It will also ease environmental worries, and provide hassle-free driving between Kot Lakhpat and Main Canal Road, and conserve time and energy.
