Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the construction of the 21-story Arfa Karim Tower-II, a major building in Lahore.
The approval came at a meeting in Lahore led by the Chief Minister. The meeting also discussed future projects like the Film City, the Information Technology (IT) City, and educational programmes. Big IT companies like Microsoft and Oracle want to invest in the city.
CM Maryam told officials to invite well-known Chinese IT companies to open offices to stimulate the IT industry. She stressed that the Punjab government was dedicated to creating an ideal setting for major international IT companies.
The Chief Minister also said that he wanted to get top universities to open campuses in Lahore. This would allow kids from all over Pakistan to get a good education.
To facilitate connections, CM Maryam ordered that free Wi-Fi projects to set up in 10 important places in Lahore within two weeks. The project aims to offer free Wi-Fi in 516 locations throughout the city, with the most attention given to airports, bus hubs, schools, and train stations.
CEO CBD Imran Amin discussed the Arfa Karim Tower IT City and Lahore Knowledge Park projects during the meeting. Other officials present included the Chief Secretary, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Pervaiz Rasheed, Azma Zahid Bukhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, and the Provincial Minister for Information and Culture.
