According to a recent news report, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Relief Commissioner Punjab, Nabeel Javed, has instructed relevant departments to ensure the use of earthquake-resistant materials in all new buildings constructed in Punjab. This move aims to mitigate the impact of earthquakes and limit the damage caused by them.
During a visit to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)’s control room, Javed ordered officials to inspect high-rise buildings and ensure the use of appropriate materials. He also warned of strict action against those who use substandard construction materials.
In addition, PDMA Director General Imran Qureshi briefed the Relief Commissioner on the initial earthquake report and urged all districts to provide details of available equipment to manage such disasters.
