CDWP Approves 28 Development Projects Worth Rs309.14 Billion

ISLAMABAD: According to a press release, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) met on Saturday. It authorised 28 development projects worth Rs309.14 billion across various sectors, including communications, technology, education, and energy.

Among the approved projects, the CDWP primarily sponsored a programme for Sindh’s Flood Response Through Reconstruction of Education Facilities, supported by JICA and valued at Rs1.566 billion. A one-stop service facility for Special Economic Zones was also approved, costing Rs 698 million.

The meeting also approved projects like Jamshoro (Rs2.36 billion), technology integration at Aror University of Art, and upgrade and improvement of the People’s Nursing School at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro (Rs786.1 million).

Other approved projects include constructing the Audit House in Lahore (Rs 1.9976 billion). The Women on Wheels project (Rs 4.4761), the upgrade of HPT Rawat transmitting station through the installation of a 1,000kW DRM-enabled medium wave transmitter, funded by foreign grants (Rs 4 billion), the opening of a polytechnic institute for boys in Skardu, Baltistan region (Rs 978.9 million), infrastructure development projects of Islamabad Technopolis.

The CDWP also gave its approval for the construction of a road connecting Main Duki Road with Kharshang via Baghaw and Shinlaiz Sanjavi in the district of Ziarat (cost: Rs. 1.5 billion), the rehabilitation and special repairs of track maintenance equipment (cost: Rs. 5.5 billion), and the dualisation of the Larkano–Lakhi road (cost: Rs. 4.92 billion).

Other approved projects include strengthening the University of Narowal (revised) (Rs3.5 billion). The construction of the Sunni Gar Dam (revised) (Rs5.11 billion), and the establishment of the Institute of Sports (Rs2.1 billion). Also addressing the difficulties in tackling out-of-school children (Rs250 billion), and the Sunni Gar Dam (revised) (Rs5.11 billion). The CDWP tasked the National Economic Council Executive Committee with further clearance of several initiatives.
