Lahore: On July 5, national publications stated that the All Pakistan Cement Despatches Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has just revealed the most recent data on cement shipments for June 2023.
To re-establish the cement sector’s position on global markets and confront the current issues facing the nation, the APCMA has urged the government to support export-oriented sectors.
According to the association’s monthly figures, cement shipments decreased in June 2023. The overall volume of cargo shipped during the month was 4.063 million tonnes, a considerable decline of 22.80% compared to the 5.264 million tonnes shipped during the same period the year prior.
Additional data analysis showed a significant drop in the industry’s despatches of local cement in June 2023. Compared to 4.979 million tonnes in June 2022, the local despatches totalled 3.487 million tonnes, a decrease of 29.97%. The exports increased significantly, from 284,471 tonnes in June 2022 to 576,309 tonnes.
Cement shipped by northern mills specifically for domestic markets was 2.855 million tonnes in June 2023, down 30.75% from the 4.122 million tonnes shipped in June 2022. Similarly, the southern mills shipped 632,093 tonnes to regional markets in June 2023, a 26.23% decline from the 856,863 tonnes they shipped in June 2022.
In contrast, exports from the southern region increased significantly by 156.78%, from 187,308 tonnes in June 2022 to 480,976 tonnes in June 2023.
