On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to the under-construction Lahore bridge and CBD underpass. He assessed the progress of the work and urged for expedite Projects. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) project, valued at Rs1712 million, was initiated in 2021 but faced a two-year delay due to a no-objection certificate issuance.
During his visit, the PM expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and the shutdown program by LESCO. He instructed legal action against the responsible official for the delay. He also emphasized the need to expedite Projects process within two weeks, a month earlier than the initial two-month timeframe.
The PM, accompanied by Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi, chief secretary, and other senior officials, also visited the CBD underpass and called the delay unfair. He questioned the appointment of a third party for validation. And further recommended a reputable third party be hired at the expense of the building processes of construction company.
To expedite the project’s completion, PM Shehbaz advised relevant officials to provide special incentives to the workforce.
