Lahore: The Caretaker Local Government Minister, Ibrahim Murad, has given the relevant authorities the task of marking the green Areas in the master plans of 11 districts in Punjab. It aims to take a proactive stance against pollution and protect agricultural land. According to information from May 11, this regulation intends to stop environmental deterioration.
Minister Murad made it plain that no new home developments will be allowed in the designated green areas. He presided over a meeting to examine the development of the master plan for these areas. In addition, any current projects impermissibly intruding upon these areas will face heavy sanctions.
The minister emphasised the relevance of business zones and economic corridors in promoting commercial activity. It will also create job possibilities in smaller communities.
The Local Government Department’s project director, Umm Laila Naqvi, revealed that the division was working on master plans for several cities. It includes Sialkot, Okara, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, and Vehari.
She said that for these 11 districts, Land Use Classification Maps had been created and sent to the appropriate Deputy Commissioners for approval. The land use plans will be carefully drafted after approval.
